What Smile.io does well
- The largest review base of any Shopify loyalty app, with a 4.9★ rating from thousands of reviews.
- A cheap entry point: $15 a month for up to 500 orders.
- Points, referrals and POS are available even on the free plan.
What merchants complain about

- Slow support replies, sometimes two to three days.
- Being moved to a higher plan, or charged unexpectedly, as order volume grows.
- Setup problems and widgets that don't display correctly.
Stay with Smile.io if…
- You're under 1,000 orders a month and don't need VIP tiers. Smile's lower plans cost less than Habit.
- You rely on in-store POS points.
- You want the app with the longest track record and the most agency familiarity.
Habit is a better fit if…
- You want VIP tiers without moving to a $199 plan.
- Your order volume is growing and you want a bill that doesn't grow with it. Habit is $49 with no order limit.
- You want refunded orders to reverse their points automatically, and a one-click cancel.
What you give up with Habit
- Habit is new. It launched on the Shopify App Store in September 2026, so it has far fewer reviews and a shorter track record.
- There's no free plan. The 30-day free trial is how you evaluate it.
- Habit covers online orders. It doesn't support Shopify POS or in-store points yet.
- Fewer integrations than the established apps.
