If your priority is picking the option the most merchants have already validated, that's a completely reasonable default and nobody will second-guess you for it.

Where Smile.io is the stronger choice

• You want a free starting point. Smile.io's free plan lets you run basic points and referrals at zero cost. If you're pre-revenue or testing whether loyalty moves anything at all for your store, paying nothing is hard to argue with.
• You want the most-tested option. Years in market and a large merchant base mean a deep pool of reviews, agency familiarity, and existing integrations. That's real value, and it's not something a newer app can claim.
• Your agency already knows it. If someone else configures your stack, the tool they've deployed fifty times is often the tool that gets deployed well.

• A real one-click cancel. There's a Cancel button inside the app. Click it, confirm, billing stops immediately, unused time in the period is credited. No support ticket, no retention call.
• Automatic refund clawback. Refund an order in Shopify and the points earned on it reverse themselves, with both entries in the customer's ledger. No spreadsheet reconciliation, no negative balances discovered three months later.
• Referral fraud protection at no extra cost. Rate-limited codes, expiry windows, and abnormal-volume alerts ship on by default. You don't buy or configure a second app to stop self-referral rings.

What you give up by choosing Habit
